SC Contraceptive Leadership Summit 2016

Monday, December 19, 2016

The South Carolina Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy held its 2016 Contraceptive Leadership Summit this past week in Myrtle Beach at the Marriot Resort and Spa at Grand Dunes.  In the tradition of years past, the summit provided plenty of learning and networking activities for guests.

With over 100 attendees, guests were able to enjoy a host of vendors and interactive sessions.  Topics included LGBT inclusivity, leadership training, and IUD insertion.  Guests were also able to hear from national keynote speakers Wayne Shield and Dr. Christine Dehlendorf, who discussed new movements towards online healthcare innovations for millennials and healthcare disparities that are impacting the system.

Dr. Rena Dixon, Health Services Coordinator at the SC Campaign, helped to coordinate the event and was energized by the feedback she received from event attendees.  Dixon said, “Our attendees are open to new ideas and it’s great that we can bring in providers from across the country that can provide them with new ideas that they can implement in South Carolina.”

This third annual event will return in the fall of 2017 with more opportunities for healthcare providers to work towards a brighter future for South Carolina’s youth.
