16 & Pregnant"" May Have Positive Effect on Teens

MTV's reality show ""16 & Pregnant"" follows pregnant teens and their families and significant others during pregnancy and the first couple weeks after childbirth. According to a new economic study of Nielsen television ratings and birth records, the show may have prevented more than 20,000 births to teenage mothers in 2010.
“It’s thrilling,” said Sarah S. Brown, CEO of the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy. “People just don’t understand how influential media is in the lives of young people.”
