Mustache Madness featured in Newberry Observer

Friday, March 30, 2012

Six Newberry County men are lending their faces to help stop teen pregnancy.

The six men are part of a group of 19 men across the state participating in Mustache Madness. The local mustache growers include two local coaches, an attorney, a student, a S.C. Department of Natural Resources officer and the sheriff.

The South Carolina Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy Director of Communications Cayci S. Banks, who is also a Newberrian, said it was a lot easier than she thought to get men to lend their faces to the cause.

She adds often it seems that teen pregnancy is more a a female issue but the support the campaign has gotten shows it is not a one sided issue.

“I am overwhelmed with support,” said Banks.
