SiLHE: Health Workshops for Young Black Women

Main Message: SiLHE builds upon black women’s self– efficacy and ethnic pride and is grounded in social cognitive, gender, and power theories.  

Target Population: African American females between the ages of 14-18 years old who have been sexually active in the last six months.

Length: Delivered in four 4-hour sessions for a total of 16 contact hours.

Program Size: Not specified.


  1. Issues related to ethnic and gender pride.
  2. Risk reduction strategies (including correct and consistent condom use).
  3. Negotiating safer sex.
  4. Healthy relationships as they relate to practicing safer sex.
