Main Message: Positive Prevention is an HIV/STD curriculum aimed at 7th-12th grade students. These youth are taught the facts of HIV prevention, transmission, and how the disease works.  There are social elements of defining stereotyping, refusal skills, and risk reduction. 

Target Population: Both genders from all racial backgrounds in 7th-12th grade.

Length: Six lessons.

  1. Emphasis on abstinence from sexual intercourse explained as the most effective way to prevent the sexual transmission of HIV.
  2. Discusses the importance of abstinence from sex and drugs.
  3. Uses small group activity on sexual abstinence to start discussions to affirm abstinence as the desirable choice.
