The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy recently released a report, Sex in the (Non) City: Teen Childbearing in Rural America. This report confirmed what we here in South Carolina have known for years – young people living in rural communities are at an increased risk of having a child while still a teen. The report highlights that teens living in rural areas are more likely to be sexually active, less likely to use contraception, and therefore more likely to become pregnant.
