What a long strange trip it's been!!!

Posted 05/26/08

It’s been awhile since I’ve been on the blog… truly I’ve been sleeping most of the weekend and just haven’t been up to it. But, there’s a lot to cover in wrapping up our awesome Road Show so let’s get to it!

We spent Wednesday in Orangeburg and had a great time with the Chamber of Commerce. Then in the evening we were treated to one of the most beautiful settings I have ever had the pleasure of speaking in – Buck Ridge Hunting Club in Neeses, SC. I must admit that the stuffed animals all over the place creeped me out just a bit, but once you get past that the grounds are absolutely wonderful and the crowd was great.

Thursday took us further into the Low Country with trips to Wade Hampton High School (400 underclassmen in an assembly), an afternoon event in Beaufort and dinner in Bluffton. A big thanks to all those who were responsible for these events – especially Shedron Williams in Hampton for assembling such an awesome group of young people at Wade Hampton High!

Friday we spent the morning at our satellite office in Summerville, SC with a group of providers from the surrounding area and then had the pleasure of dining at the home of Suzan Boyd and Ed Sellers on Sullivans Island. Suzan and Ed have been tremendous supporters of teen pregnancy prevention efforts in South Carolina for many years both personally and professionally. It was great to be at their home surrounded by friends and take the time to say thank you. Words just can’t express what Suzan has meant to the growth and development of the SC Campaign before, during and after her tenure as Executive Director.

Whew… that’s it! I’m now an official member of the blogosphere and the plan is to have a new post every Monday. I’m kind of into this now so I’ll try to keep up the best that I can.

Finally, a very happy Memorial Day to each and every one of you. It’s great to have a three day weekend, enjoy grilling out, spending time with family, etc, etc, BUT let’s not forget what the real reason for this day is! Please take time today to honor and say thanks (in whatever way you know how) to all of those men and women who have and continue to serve our wonderful country in the armed forces.

Hey!! Nice blog site. It sounds like you had a great time traveling around SC and I know that you were happy to spend time with some old friends. Coming from your older (and of course much wiser!) sister I must say that I am truly very proud of you. There is caring and passion in all that you do and with that you and all of the staff at SC Campaign will always be successful. Great job and I will see you next week!!
