A Tour of the Pee Dee

Wow, what a day! This morning got off to a great start with stories about the Road Show in both the Sun News (Myrtle Beach) and the Florence Morning News... during the day we ran into legislators, had proclamations signed by Mayors in three different cities, met with the editor of a major daily newspaper and shook nearly 100 hands - exactly what the Road Show is all about. What great fun it is navigating the back roads and hearing stories from those so involved at the local level.

The day started with Breakfast at the Pee Dee Healthy Start office with a group of faith leaders and concerned citizens including an unexpected visit from Representative Alexander - a great discussion with a very committed group of individuals. Lunch was equally wonderful in historic Bennettsville at Lucinda's restaurant. What a great spot - my shameless plug for a place you can get an awesome meal at a really neat place the next time you are in town. To get a true local's experience I was treated to a bottle of Blenheim Ginger Ale - thank you Joan!

The evening concluded at the New Vision Community Center with a great group of young people and their parents. We talked at length about the importance of investing in young people, took lots of picture, and you guessed it - ate way too much! Treadmill anyone??

It's late, and I'm beat. Off to Newberry for breakfast at 8 am. See you there!
