Annual Report

Thoughts from the CEO

This is one of my favorite times of the year as putting together the Annual Report forces us to reflect on our accomplishments. Every time we go through this exercise, I am blown away by the quantity and quality of work produced by our staff. This year is no exception.

Let's not bury the lead...teen birth rates in South Carolina are the lowest in recorded history. Over the last decade we have seen a decrease of more than 25%, including 2010 - the largest single-year change ever recorded (13%). By no means am I suggesting that this improvement is solely the result of the SC Campaign; however, I am confident our work is making a difference. Not only are teen birth rates declining, but ultimately this news has an impact on the health and economic well being of individuals and communities across the state. You may recognize that last statement as part of our newly revised mission. It's a stark reminder that this work is not just about decreasing teen pregnancy - it's about making South Carolina a better place!

I sincerely hope you will take the time to read through this report and take in all of the wonderful accomplishments of our agency. I also hope you will recognize none of this work is possible without YOU - our partners, supporters, donors, friends and colleagues. Together we are making a difference in the lives of the countless young people in our state. Thank you for playing a role in our accomplishments of the past year.
