We are excited to share out of our experiences – both joys and challenges – in hopes that you will find inspiration for your journey through parenthood.

Cayci Banks, New Mom

NEW! Cayci lives in Newberry with her husband of four years, Charlie Banks, their newest addition Lucas and their two golden retrievers, Hogan and Sperry. Keep up with her as she faces the challenges and fun of raising her son who was born on November 3, 2009! 

   

 
Molly Talbot Metz, Working Mom

Molly Talbot-Metz is married to her high school sweetheart, Tim. Together they have two children, Kaitlyn (5) and Andrew (18 months). Molly loves being a parent, but never realized it would be such hard work. She challenges herself everyday to try to be the best parent she can to her children.

   

 
Gwen Baker, Veteran Mom

Gwen resides in Columbia with her two daughters, Kristen and Kimberly – two twenty-somethings with whom she enjoys spending quality time. Their most recent pasttime has been competing in WiiSports – how fun!

   

 
Philicia Baugh-Smith, Courageous Mom

Philicia Baugh-Smith is a 28 year old proud mother of three – Jaiden (5), Isaiah (12) and Lanzs (2). Her journey has been incredible - taking her from high school dropout/teen mom to private school principal pursuing a PhD. She says, “Life is good and I live everyday in hopes of giving back!”

   

 
Chris Rollison, On-the-Go Dad

Chris and his wife Ashlee have been married for three years and have a beautiful daughter Addison and their newest addition, Ridge. He is the only boy out of six siblings. Chris tries everyday to make the most out of the wonderful life the Lord has blessed him with.

 
   

 
Eric Rowles -

A great princess dress-up partner, Eric can tie his own shoes as well as his daughters', and relive his days of being a DJ during drives to and from daycare, t-ball practice and birthday parties. As a national trainer and speaker (www.LeadingToChange.com), Eric has travelled the world but feels at "home" most when he is in Charlotte, NC with his family.  

   

 
Kenya Smith, Young Mother of Two

Kenya is the proud mother of two VERY energetic girls, Keiana (6) and Kellie (2).  She also gladly inherited two daughters, Brittany (18) and Ariona (7) when she married her husband of seven years, Armondo. 

   

 
Bill Albert, Family Man

Bill Albert is the Chief Program Officer at The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy.  Other than his daily commute, the real joy of his life is family - long suffering wife Carol and perfect 15-year-old son Harrison.  Harrison, a sophomore in high school, remains understandably horrified by his father's profession.

   

 
Dr. Yasha Jones, Mom, Educator, and Mentor

The best things in life are free! Especially when it comes to the love between mother and child. Dr. Jones, is the mother of a jewel named Angel Patrice, a vibrant, multi-talented, full-of-personality two year old who loves to sing, dance, laugh, and entertain anyone willing to give her an audience. Dr. Jones has over ten years of experience as a public school educator and a Christian Education Director in her local church. Young people are her passion!

   

 
Greer Pickett, Single Mom

Greer is the mother of three children, daughter Morgan (19) a member of the US Army Reserves, Sheldon and Shane (17) twin sons and high school seniors.  Greer is an advocate for single mothers.  Her motto is “quitting is not an option.”

   

 
Jeannette Barton, Grandparent-Parent

Jeannette and John, her husband of 29 years, are the proud grandparent-parents of 12- year old Hannah. Jeannette (who attended Clown College) and Hannah enjoy “clowning,” to bring laughter to the sick and others. As a family, they enjoy fishing, wood-working, beading and many other fun activities.

   

 
Thomas Harris, Involved Parent

Thomas, the father of three adult children and grandfather of two teen grandsons,  believes parenting is the most challenging yet rewarding experience in life.  A strong advocate for male involvement in rearing children, Thomas volunteers with a number of non-profit organizations including the in-school “lunch buddy” program. He also has been a mentor with the Orphan Foundation of America. His philosophy is, "If you care for children when they are young, they will take care of you when you are old." Thomas presents this as part of his Beyond my Values—A Cultural Competence Experiences workshop. Visit his website at www.BeyondMyValues.com

   

 
Jennifer Kahn, Multitasking Mom

Jennifer is the mother of two and an aunt to five between the ages of 7 months and 12 years. Somewhere between homework, piano lessons, house cleaning, dog walking, meal making, grant writing and sleep, she manages quiet time with her husband of 12 years, Charles.

   

 
Sherry Wilson, Balancing Act Mom

Sherry's resume lists her as an Administrator at the Jefferson Rehabilitation Center in Upstate New York.  However, her most important job is raising two wonderful daughters along with her husband of 24 years, Pete.  Sherry, Pete and their youngest daughter Rachel, 11 all reside in the Thousand Islands and the oldest daughter Sarah, 19 is a sophomore at the University of South Carolina.  Sherry also happens to be the older, and self-described wiser sister of our Executive Director - she promises to share the scoop on him in her column sometime soon!

Her huge heart of gold has afforded Carol, who has no children she has birthed, the opportunity to “mother” and mentor many – most recently, her godchild, Carmen.
